Vickie Mitchell

Vickie J Mitchell, Ed.D. as been in education for over 40 years and the parent of a child with a disability on an IEP from second grade through graduation from public school. Her life goal is to teach teachers, parents/guardians, partners in supported decision-making, and community partners to teach, train, mentor and support individuals with disabilities to have a life of meaning and fulfillment based upon the individual's, with a disability, goals. Dr. Mitchell is the Eleanor & Charles Garrett Endowed Chair in Special Education and the Co-Director of the Garrett Center on Transition and Disability Studies at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.
